Engineers Without Borders – USA Update on BoldeReach Proceeds

The Staff and Governing Board of EWB-USA were ecstatic over the money raised by the women of BoldeReach at their Gala on June 24, 2006.  After much discussion, EWB-USA decided to distribute the money in the following manner:

$3,500  Project led by John Bennett, Chair of EWB-USA.  This was money committed as a result of John’s direct appeal during the gala, and for which he is matching funds.

$20,000
BoldeReach project grants to be distributed in Fall 2006.  Ten $2,000 grants are being made to EWB-USA Chapters for water projects.  All projects must be a collaboration with another non-governmental organization, another chapter, or a university.

$5,000
BoldeReach Project Award to be announced at the EWB-USA Annual Conference in Amherst, Massachusetts in April 2007.  The winning project must have a water component within a multi-year phased project, and must be in collaboration with another non-governmental organization, another chapter, or a university.

$12,750
Partial funding of a new Project Manager who will approve, review, track and support EWB-USA projects, maintain close communication with chapters to ensure their projects are appropriate, workable and on track, and report back to the Technical Advisory Committee and the EWB-USA Board.

$12,750
Partial funding of a new EWB-USA website that will allow members, supporters, donors, and staff to get up-to-the-minute information on EWB-USA activities, projects, and opportunities, register for Regional Workshops and the Annual Conference, make contributions to the chapter or project of their choice, and much more!

EWB-USA is currently accepting applications for the BoldeReach Grants, and will make decisions about the recipients by the end of November.  We look forward to announcing these 10 projects and highlighting the work they are doing to improve access to clean water around the world.

Please visit our website, www.ewb-usa.org, for stories about featured projects, a complete list of chapters and projects, information on our upcoming Annual Conference, and details on EWB-USA’s work here and abroad.
